You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.”
Having your bath daily is necessary, even when you don’t feel the need to. You don’t have to look, smell, or feel dirty before you bathe yourself. We’re always in contact with particles and germs in the air around us we don’t see with the unaided eye. They get on our bodies without invitation, make us dirty as they accumulate, and become harmful to our bodies if left unremoved. So, you take a bath to wash them off your body, and then you’re clean and fresh again. Now, it’s the same thing spiritually!
You may not have done or said anything wrong, but doubt, fear and unbelief rub off on you as you relate with other people and the world around you. This is why you need to take a Word-bath as often as necessary. Sometimes when I counsel people, they voice unbelief as they relate their problems. So I go back into my office and spend some time studying and declaring the Word to cleanse myself of all the negativity I’ve heard.
Ephesians 5:26-27 says that Christ sanctifies and cleanses the Church “…with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” This means the Lord Jesus bathes us with His Word! Every time you read and meditate on the scriptures, you’re taking a bath! You’re being purified spiritually by God’s Word. Spend time with the Word every morning and before you go to bed at night. This will not only keep you clean and fresh in your spirit and your mind, but cause you to flourish in every area of your life.
